Gary Oneil Admits Jose Sa Could Seek Move Away From Wolves After Sam Johnstone Arrival

Gary O'Neil admits Jose Sa could seek move away from Wolves after Sam Johnstone arrival

Wolves boss Gary O'Neil has admitted that goalkeeper Jose Sa could seek a move away from the club following the arrival of Sam Johnstone.

Johnstone joined Wolves on a free transfer from West Bromwich Albion earlier this summer, and he is expected to challenge Sa for the number one spot at Molineux.

O'Neil has praised Sa's professionalism since Johnstone's arrival, but he has also admitted that the Portuguese goalkeeper could be tempted to leave Wolves if he is not guaranteed regular first-team football.

"Jose is a top goalkeeper, and he has been very professional since Sam arrived," said O'Neil. "But I understand that he wants to play regularly, and if he is not going to get that here, then he may have to look at his options."

Sa has been a key player for Wolves since joining the club from Olympiacos in 2021. He has made 50 appearances for the club, and he has kept 17 clean sheets.

However, Johnstone is a proven Premier League goalkeeper, and he is likely to be a serious challenger for Sa's place in the team. If Sa does decide to leave Wolves, it would be a major blow to the club.

Wolves are expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer, as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for a top-half finish in the Premier League.

The club has already signed Johnstone, and they are also reportedly interested in signing a new central defender and a new striker.

O'Neil will be hoping to have a strong squad in place for the start of the new season, and he will be keen to avoid losing any of his key players.
