Elvis Presleys Granddaughter Sues To Protect Estate

Graceland Foreclosure Sale Halted After Lawsuit

Elvis Presley's Granddaughter Sues to Protect Estate

Memphis, TN - May 22, 2024

Riley Keough, the granddaughter of legendary singer Elvis Presley, has filed a lawsuit in Tennessee court to prevent the foreclosure sale of the famous Graceland mansion. A public notice posted earlier in May had announced that the 13-acre estate would be auctioned off on May 31 due to unpaid maintenance fees and property taxes.

In her complaint, Keough alleges that the company advertising the foreclosure sale, Promenade Maintenance, acquired the property through "fraudulent means." She claims that Promenade did not have the legal authority to foreclose on the estate and that the sale was therefore illegal. Keough is seeking an injunction to block the sale and damages for emotional distress.

Graceland, located in Memphis, Tennessee, has been a museum and tourist attraction since 1982. It is estimated to be worth approximately $100 million. Presley purchased the property in 1957 and lived there until his death in 1977.
